Managing User Roles and Permissions

CKAN uses a role-based access control system to manage permissions for users within the platform.

User Roles

  • Admin: Has full access to all features, including creating organizations, managing users, and configuring site settings.

  • Editor: Can create and modify datasets and resources within an assigned organization.

  • Member: Has read-only access to datasets and resources, but cannot modify them.


To assign roles, the administrator should:

  • Go to the Organization Management Page.

  • Click on the "Members" Tab: Add or remove users and assign appropriate roles.
